Louis Bozzetti

Louis Paul Bozzetti Jr. was born in Hoboken, New Jersey on February 7, 1936 to Maria Amalia (D’Amico) and Louis Bozzetti. He passed away on June 15, 2013 in Redlands, California after a debilitating battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Louis graduated from Andrews University in Michigan, continued his schooling and received his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1960, and after his residency entered the Army as a Physician. He was a Psychiatrist at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda from 1977-1997, serving as the first Chief of Psychiatry. Dr. Bozzetti was a lifetime member of American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Psychiatric Association (APA), as well as a distinguished fellow of the APA. He served as Deputy Director for the National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse under President Nixon. He was passionate about helping those in need and enjoyed his consulting work with CRASH (a residential recovery program for drug and alcohol abuse) and with Family Services Association in Riverside County. Louis will be forever missed by his wife of 51 years, Ingrid; his daughters: Marie Engström (Stefan) and Lisa Bozzetti (Kåre); and his only granddaughter Anja. He is also survived by his siblings: Elizabeth Slack, Sonny, George and Kathryn Nieminsky. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Sylvia Angelo and Daniel. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 21st at the Campus Hill Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Loma Linda, California (11057 Hill Dr). Sunset Funeral Care in Redlands is handling services. In Lieu of flowers family is requesting donations be made in Louis’ name to Family Services Association, 21250 Box Springs Road Suite 212 Moreno Valley, CA 92557 .
