Funeral Services for Mr. Lorenzo Dock Wesley, of Wrightsville, will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11 AM at the Saint James CME Church, 1608 Lovett Road in Lovett, Georgia. Reverend Willie McCormick will officiate. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Wrightsville.

Mr. Wesley was born on August 26, 1923, in Johnson County, Georgia, to Walter Wesley and Mary Bell Kemp Wesley. His positive work ethic, founded on a strong faith and belief in God, provided motivation for the many jobs that he would have including truck driver, a sawmill worker, a farmer, and a military cook. It was his experience as a cook in the service during World War II that ultimately provided the genesis for lifetime career. During World War II, he rose to the rank of Sergeant, and was honorably discharged in 1946. Upon his return, he accepted a position as cook at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dublin. Upon his retirement, Mr. Wesley had gladly served in the food services department of the Carl Vinson Veterans Administration Center for 30 years, as he had worked his way up to the position of head chef.

Mr. Wesley attended Saint James CME Church in Lovett for all of his life, where he was a Steward for many years and had been recognized by the CME Church as an Exhorter. He passed away on November 12, 2016.

Lorenzo Wesley was preceded in death by his wife, the late Elma Harris Wesley. He is survived by his five children, Thelma (Jackson) Wesley Lam of Dublin, Joseph (Andrea) Wesley, Sr. of Hattiesburg, Mississipi, Annie Rejeania Wesley of Dublin, Cornice Wesley of New Port News, Virginia, and Barbara (Gary) Wesley Sullivan of Fort Valley, twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 18, 2016, 5–8 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home, and on Saturday 10-11 AM, at the Saint James CME Church.
