Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Council, of Cadwell, Georgia, will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 1 PM at the New Providence Baptist Church, 3127 Fountain Road in Cadwell. Pastor Edward Northcutt will deliver the eulogy. The interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lois Jean Webb Council was born on November 26, 1944, in the Garretta community of Laurens County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones, Sr.

During her youth and early teens, she was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida where she was leader of the youth choir. After moving to Georgia, she joined New Providence Baptist Church where she served faithfully as Sunday School secretary, Deaconess, WMBS secretary and treasurer. She was a graduate of Mary Fleming High School of Dublin. Mrs. Council was united in matrimony to Mr. Dozier Gene Council for forty nine years. To this union five children were born.

Her employment as a seamstress included her work at Alamo Shirt factory, Uniroyal, and Buck Swindle companies . Mrs. Council also worked for a number of years at Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation. Ever the multi-tasker, during all this time, Mrs. Council worked diligently as a mother, wife, and homemaker.

She cared very much about her family and others. Her love for the Lord was demonstrated by her dedication to being a thorough caregiver to her siblings, mother, mother-in-law, and to many other members of the community. She knew that God wanted us to live our lives such that we were not only self-sufficient but willing and able to take care of each other. She lived up to that higher expectation. Mrs. Council absolutely loved seeing things grow and flourish. She took much joy in planning, planting and maintaining her garden. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.

Mrs. Council was preceded in death by her husband, Dozier Council, Sr., one son Dozier Council, Jr., as well as five brothers: Ralph, Tarron, Leon, Lynn, and Clifton.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Sharntrel Wells of Rentz, Christopher(Winfreda) Council and Warren(Jennifer) Council, both of Cadwell, Dr. Leona Council of Birmingham, Alabama, as well as daughter-in-law, Carol Council of Thetford, England. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Yolanda, Monekka, Nikkita, Shonnie, Gavin, Warren Jr., Adrian, Jessica, Jasmine and five great grandchildren: Inara, Eleanor, Alistair, Tristan, and Gavin Jr. Mrs. Council is also survived by her siblings: German (Joan) Dixon of East Point; Frank(Wanda) Jones, Jr. of Douglasville; Freddie Jones of Cadwell, Marilynn (Gerald) Hobbs of Fayetteville; Sandra Jones of Rentz; Angela Blue of Macon;Clayton Jones of Cadwell; raised as a brother, Tommy (Mary) Dixon of Atlanta and sister-in-law Shirley Bell of Detroit, Michigan. She also leaves to cherish her memories her aunts: Pinkie Lee Dixon and Birdie M. Taylor of Jacksonville, Florida, her very beloved aunt , Annie Maude Edmond of Rentz, as well as special cousins, Dorothy Moore of Detroit, Michigan and Rosa Chappell of Dublin. There are also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to remember her. Mrs. Council loved animals and also leaves a beloved dog, Evana, her close companion, to remember her as well.

The family is receiving friends at 3287 Fountain Road in Cadwell. Visitation will also be held at the Dudley Funeral Home on Monday, June 12, 2017, 6-8 PM
