Lee Whipple

Funeral services for Reverend Lee V. “LV” Whipple, 88, of East Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019, at 10:30 AM at the Jordan Stream Baptist Church, 1705 GA Highway 112 in Toomsboro, Georgia. The Pastor A. L. Gordon will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Lee V. Whipple, was born on December 22, 1930. He is the last son of the late Rev. Benjamin and Hattie Mae Blue Whipple.

He joined the Jordan Stream Baptist Church at an early age, where he became a Deacon under the Leadership of Pastor Rev. H. L. Jackson. He served faithfully until his calling to the Ministry.

He was joined in matrimony to the late Ethel Denson Whipple and two children were born. He worked as a laborer in the sawmills, pulpwood industry, and briefly, as a manufacturing worker.

He served as pastor in many churches including Evergreen Baptist Church, Cadwell, New Evergreen Baptist Church, Chauncey, New Zion Baptist Church, Hawkinsville, Chrisitian Hope Baptist Church, Hawkinsville, Limestone Baptist Church, Bartow, Oak Grove Baptist Church, Sandersville, Friendship Baptist Church, Pinehurst, and at Mount Aire Baptist Church, Hawkinsville. Through his years of leadership, he became Moderator and President of the Georgia Union Missionary Baptist Association of several areas including Cordelle and Valdosta in Georgia. He was presented the Key to the City of Hawkinsville, Georgia, by the Mayor in 1998. He retired in 2009 after his health began to fail and he lost his vision. Reverend Whipple passed away on October 22, 2019.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Reverend James Whipple, Parker Whipple, Leroy Whipple, Johnny Whipple, and by three sisters, Evetta W. Payne, Eva Mae W. Nelson, and Janie W. Gainor.

He leaves to mourn his estranged wife, Demetria Whipple, two children, Pauline Whipple Andrews, Donald (Sandra) L. Whipple, both of Dublin, two step-sons, Quintez Thompkins, JaKenzea Boynton, one brother-in-law, Derrick Thompkins, one grandson, Zachary R. Whipple, three granddaughters, Shantel Whipple, Celesa Whipple, and Raeleigh Hosley Whipple, all of Dublin, two great-grandsons, Joseph and Johnathan Burch of East Dublin, and a host of other relatives
