Funeral services for Mrs. LaRue Brazeal, of East Dublin, will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 1 PM at the New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church at 1820 New Buckeye Road in East Dublin. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Revered Leon Smith will officiate.

Mrs. Brazeal, who passed on April 15, 2015, was born on May 15, 1924, in Dublin to the wedded union of late Pauline Mathis and the late Willie Flanders. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Faye Coney and Barbara Ann Coney.

Affectionately known near and far as "Ms Soon", she joined the New Bethel AME Church and served in many capacities including on the Mamie Plummer Women's Missionary Society as president for a number of years. She was lunchroom manager at B.D. Perry High School and at the East Laurens Primary School.

As wedded to Willie Coney, Mrs. Brazeal was mother of three girls: Barbara Ann Coney and Carolyn Faye Coney, both deceased, and Margaret Diane (Melvin) Coney-Nix of Albany. While married to Elder Eugene Brazeal, Sr., she became the mother of Francina CaSandra Brazeal of Macon and Angela Brazeal of Dublin.

She is also survived by stepsons: William (Marjorie) Brazeal, Grady (Frannie) Brazeal of Dublin and Eugene (Linda) Brazeal of Inkster, Michigan; stepdaughters, Algerine (Carnell) Stanley, Ruby Brazeal and Mary Brazeal O'Neal, Dublin; sisters, Frenchy Hodges, Dublin and Marva Lynell (Arthur) Walker, Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Kenneth Larry (Margaret) Hodges, Dublin; aunts, Lois Mathis Archibald of Cordele and Lena Bell (Hubert deceased) Mathis of Dublin, her special cousin, Odessa Maria Archibald of Atlanta, her grandchildren, Zambia Dwayne Coney, Nia Miah Timmons and Zachary Bryant Brazeal, thirteen additional grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive visitors at 1266 Thundering Springs Road in East Dublin. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, the family asks that donations be made to the Barbara A. Coney Memorial Fund.
