Funeral services for Mr. Kerek Savalus "Duke" Battle, of Wrightsville, will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at 1 PM, at the graveside in the Mitchell Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 78 Mitchell Grove Church Road in Wrightsville. Pastor H. B. Young will deliver the eulogy

Mr. Battle was born on September 16, 1984, in Dublin, Georgia, to Delores Young and James Battle, Sr. He joined the Mitchell Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He attended the Johnson County High School and continued to expand his horizon by furthering his education at Kennesaw State University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and later receiving a master's degree in Healthcare Management at Walden University. He was employed at Emory Hospital for twelve years. “Duke”, as he was affectionately called, cherished his time traveling to various places and with loved ones and friends. Mr. Battle departed this life on June 2, 2020.

He is survived by his mother, Delores Young, who will cherish his memory forever, his fathers, H. B. Young, Sr., and James (Denise) Battle, Jr., grandmothers, Minnie Daniels, Jackie Battle, and Hattie P. Young of Wrightsville, great-grandmothers, Adell Scott, and Eva Mae Irwin of Wrightsville, grandfathers, Asad Daniels of Meriden, Connecticut, Herbert Young, Jr., of Wrightsville, Georgia, James Battle, Sr., of Miami, Florida, sisters, Bianca Young of Rome, Georgia, Bernautica Young of Wrightsville, Georgia, Jasmeka (Sylvester) Wilson of Miami, Florida, Shakendra Gipson, and LaShina McKay of McDonough, Georgia, brothers, Herbert B. Young, Jr., of Rome, Georgia, and James Battle, III, of McDonough, Georgia, god-brothers, Miketavious Scott, and Ty’Rek Pressley of Wrightsville, Georgia, god-son, John Ross III, of Atlanta, aunts, Jessica Daniels, Sonya Hines, and LaShawn Battle, all of Wrightsville, Georgia, Channell Brown of Grayson, Georgia, and Sylvia (Terry) Shoneye of Hampton, Georgia, Sherry Taylor of Melbourne, Florida, uncles, Curtis Daniels, Craig (Tangela) Dixon of Wrightsville, Georgia, Leotis (Sandra) Hurst of Valrico, Florida, a devoted cousin, Alexis Hines of Atlanta, and a host of great aunts, great uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
