Juan Antonio Castanuela, 72, of Melvin went to be with his Lord Monday, August 5, 2013. Rosary is 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in St. Charles Catholic Church. Service is 10 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 in St. Charles Catholic Church followed by burial in Melvin Cemetery. Officiating is Father Yesu. Pallbearers are Ruben Ramon Jr., Andrew Castanuela, Mark Mach, Manuel Castanuela Jr., Roger Perez Jr., Alberto Rodriquez Sr.

Survivors include his son, Johnny Castanuela and wife, Mary and one grandson, Toby Castanuela, all of San Angelo; eight brothers, Ricardo Castanuela and wife, Judy of Cross Plains, Ernesto Castanuela and wife, J.P. of Platteville, CO, Ruben Castanuela and wife, Mary of Kenosha, WI, Alex Castanuela and wife, Linda of Eden, Manuel Castanuela and wife, Ora of Melvin, J.J. Castanuela and wife, Mary of Eden, Rogelio Castanuela and wife, Marilyn of San Antonio, Ramiro Castanuela of Schertz; six sisters, Elisa Sandoval of Melvin, Celia Fernandez and husband, Daniel of San Angelo, Minerva Perez and husband, Rogelio of Bangs, Delia Ramon and husband, Ruben of Menard, Esther Flores and husband, Sam of Brady, Irma Rodriquez and husband, Alberto of Brady; and a special friend, Georgia Jones of Ballinger.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
