Joseph Whipple

Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Whipple, Jr., of Dublin, Georgia, will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 2130 Georgia Hwy 338, in Dexter. The service will be officiated by Pastor Benny Brantley of New Bible Believers Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Whipple was born on October 25, 1939, to the late Joseph and Izzie Whipple of Laurens County, Georgia. He was a graduate of the Millville High School. In 1964, he met and married Annie Ruth Cuyler of Dublin. The Whipples settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and had two sons. While working for the Franklin Candy Company, Mr.Whipple attended trade school to become an automotive mechanic and he later operated his own Sunoco Service Station. Returning to his roots, in 1985, he, his wife, and two children relocated to Dublin. Over the next twenty-five plus years, Joe remained faithfully employed by the City of Dublin where he spent much of his tenure as a caretaker for Northview Cemetery. Upon retirement, he worked part-time for Evans Recycling. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing his lawn and working on cars from his home. At an early age, Mr. Whipple joined Rocky Creek Baptist Church where he served as an usher, and later as a deacon. After later joining New Bible Believers Missionary Baptist Church of Dublin, he also served as a deacon and sang on the men’s choir. He passed away on Tuesday, September 11,, 2018.

Mr. Whipple is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Ruth Whipple, his sons, Joseph Whipple III, Wayne Whipple, daughter-in-law, Michelle (Joseph) Whipple , his grandchildren, Joshua Whipple, JaCori Whipple, Jeremiah Whipple, Tytanna Smith, and Aysha Whipple, brother, Albert Whipple, sisters, Willie Ruth Lattimore, Rubye Whipple, nephew, Jason Lattimore, niece, Nicole Lattimore, and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Whipple will be held Friday, September 14, 2018, 4-6 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make all donations on behalf of Mr. Whipple to the Rocky Creek Baptist Church or the New Bible Believers Missionary Baptist Church.
