John Sorrell

John Frank Sorrell, 84, of Eden, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012. John was born December 24, 1928 to John Clarence and Mary Ethel Ellis Sorrell in San Angelo, Texas. John was a third generation farmer and rancher and had properties in Concho, Menard and McCulloch Counties. He loved working his livestock and always looked forward to a great wheat harvest every spring. John especially enjoyed his many hunting trips to Colorado and New Mexico with his best friend and cousin, Chester Jacoby. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and as a Director for the McCulloch County Farm Bureau, Cattlemen’s PCA, and Concho County Hospital Board. John is survived by his sons, Scott Sorrell and wife Jan of Eden, Sam Sorrell and wife Jacque of Del Rio; daughter Melinda Sorrell of El Paso; grandsons, Jared Sorrell of Austin, and Jack Sorrell of Del Rio; granddaughter, Caitlin Sorrell, of Austin; two sisters, Joann Pfluger of Eden, and Maxine Ostrowski of Arlington; sister-in-law, Carolyn Sorrell of Eden; his loyal and beloved dog Abby; and many numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Dan Sorrell. We wish to give special thanks to Ora Castanuela for her loving care and dedication to John and our family. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at the Eden Funeral Home with interment at the Eden Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Eden Public Library or the Eden Volunteer Fire Department.
