Funeral services for Mr. John Willie McClendon, Jr., of East Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Mitchell Grove Baptist Church, 78 Mitchell Grove Church Road in Wrightsville. Pastor Rickey Stanley will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. McClendon, who passed on August 29, 2016, was born August 10, 1949, to the late Lena Mae and John W. McClendon, Sr.

He served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded two purple hearts for his bravery. Mr. McClendon retired from the Carl Vinson Medical Center after 25 years. After retirement he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. McClendon is survived by a loving and devoted wife of forty seven years, Bessie Lee Clover McClendon, four loving daughters, Shirly McClendon of Atlanta, Rekelly (Clarence) Williams, Patricia McClendon and Tameka Rozier, all of Dublin, a devoted brother, Joseph (Gloria) McClendon, Dublin, four god brothers, Albert (Jerry) McClendon, Freddie (Julie) McClendon, Frankie (Gloria) McClendon, all of Dublin, and David McClendon of Jacksonville, Florida, two god sisters, Eva Lou McClendon, Glenda McClendon, Jacksonville, Florida, devoted and loving in-laws, Early (Lori Ann) Clover, Las Vegas, Nevada, Willie "Bill" (Janice) Clover, Dr. Maxine Garcia and Alzada Johnson, all of Dublin, Annette (Sheldon) Hall, and Willie "Scoop" Scott. He also leaves to cherish his memories a very special grandson that he calls his sidekick, O'Brian Rozier, along with his oldest grandsons, Michael McClendon and Dominique Tucker of Dublin. He also had five granddaughters that he loved so dearly, Shammeshia McClendon, Ikea Coley, Ciera Tucker, Danielle McClendon and Gregoryonia Tucker, all of Dublin, a special devoted niece, Dr. D'etta Jenkins, Dublin, devoted nephew, Curtis (Mary) Clover, an aunt, Julia Mae (Clester) Coneway, East Dublin and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 434 Wright Road in East Dublin.
