Funeral services for Reverend Joe F. Moore, of Soperton, will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 11 AM at the Holly Spring Baptist Church, 705 Buckeye Road in East Dublin. Reverend Willie Edwards, Jr., will deliver the eulogy Interment will follow in Dudley Memorial Cemetery.
Reverend Joe F. Moore, Sr., the youngest of eleven children was born in Franklin, Tennessee, on March 11, 1957, to the late Reverend and Mrs. Joe D. Moore. After graduating from Franklin High School, he furthered his education at Paul Quinn College receiving a Bachelor of Science, a Master's of Science from Middle Tennessee State, and Education Specialist Degree from Georgia Southern University.
He married the elegant and dedicated Deborah Moore, and they are the proud parents of three girls, Tia, Jen a, and Christa and one son, Joe, Jr., and three grandchildren, Zoey, Zimir, and Skylar. He was the youngest brother to James Willie (Ethel) Moore, Edith Jennings, Emma Jean Moore, Ida Mae Turner; Evelyn Perkins, Dora Ann (Robert) Jackson of Franklin, Tennessee, Robert Lee (Barbara) Moore of Nashville, Tennessee, the late Charlene Moore of Franklin, Tennessee, the late Harold Thomas Moore of Houston, Texas, and the late David Lewis Moore of Irwinton. He is also survived by two sisters-inĀ-law, Mrs. Marie Moore, Mrs. Jacqueline Moore, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Reverend Moore served as an educator and coach in the Wilkinson County and the Monroe County School System and as Superintendent at Walter Wesley Junior Academy in Dublin. He also served as Principal at Treutlen County Elementary School. He is also proud a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.
However, through these accomplishments, his greatest one is being a child of The Highest God. God has worked through Pastor Moore to bring about a diversified ministry with a central focus on soul winning and reaching the lost. Reverend Moore was the Pastor of First Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Baxley, Georgia, and Holly Spring Baptist Church in East Dublin, Georgia. He also served as the Moderator of the Second Rehoboth Missionary Baptist Church and the 12th District President of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc.
Pastor Moore was a faithful witness, preacher, and teacher. He boldly proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that all may come unto the knowledge of the truth and be saved. (I Timothy 2:1-4) He was an obedient servant unto the Lord with a spirit of godliness expressed outwardly, thereby impacting the lives of those around him. Pastor Moore passed away on November 18, 2017.
The family is receiving at 9292 Georgia Hwy 29 in Soperton, and on Tuesday, November 21, 6-8 PM, at the Dudley Funeral Home.
