Funeral Services for Mrs. Jessie Rene Carswell, 62, of Wrightsville, will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at 1 PM at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 368 Bill Oliver Road, Wrightsville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Carswell was born on September 12, 1952, in Tennille, Georgia, to the late Alex and Inez McElroy. She passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015.

She attended school at Dock Kemp High School where she was head majorette in the marching band. She was employed by the Johnson County Board of Education where she served as a lunchroom attendant and bus driver for over 10 years. During that time she developed strong bonds and relationships with several students.

Mrs. Carswell is preceded in death by her son, Jimmy ‘Jawaski” Carswell; brother, Roy Willie Miller; and grandson, Dexter Dantrell Carswell.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jimmy Carswell; two sons, Christopher (Lashica) Carswell, and Dorio Carswell all of Wrightsville; one daughter, Arrena (Jeffery) George of Chatsworth; one adopted daughter, Shericka Johnson of Wrightsville; ten grandchildren, Xavier Carswell, Christen Carswell, Jeffery George Jr., Melvia Merrell, Jessica Carswell, Shakira Carswell, Shakirah Lemon, Dorien Carswell, Kenyon Lee, Jalon Pauldo, Ja’Nyious Ross and Ju’Alan George; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Laverne (Levi) Daniels and Debra McElory all of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Patricia Huff of Wrightsville; one brother, Frank McElroy; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Carswell of Lawnside, New Jersey; Jedean Carswell of West Deplford, New Jersey, Ossie (Alvin) Moorman and Jerry (Kenneth) Williams, all of Wrightsville; two brothers-in-law, Wilmer (Evelyn) Carswell and Sammie Lee Carswell, both of Wrightsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 90 East Trilby Street, Wrightsville.
