Jerry Jones
Funeral services for Mr Jerry "Rick" Jones, of Allentown, will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 1 PM, at the Eason Hill Baptist Church on 2022 Eason Hill Church Road in Montrose. Reverend Roger Edwards will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born in Wilkinson County on October 10, 1960, to Hazel “June” Jones and the late Ellis Jones. He joined Eason Hill Baptist Church at an early age where he served faithfully as the president of the Usher Board, the Program Committee, and he chaired the Family and Friends Event. He served until his health began to fail. Mr. Jones was a 1979 graduate of Wilkinson County High School. He always felt the importance of staying connected with his classmates near and far.
Mr. Jones worked at Bassett Furniture Company for 13 years. He worked for the US Postal Service in Allentown where he served diligently and faithfully for 16 years. He worked part time for Bentley and Sons Funeral Home for 10 years. He also worked at Wal-Mart in Warner Robins for 2 years until his health began to fail. The Lord called him home on Sunday, April 29, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Jones, and his brother, Ira “Bro Bear” Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Hazel “June”, brothers, Melton (Delois), Dudley, Georgia, Carl (Tina) and Darrell (Linda),
both of Montrose, Georgia, E. J. (Anita) Allentown, Georgia, Walter & Terry (Moldrea) Smith both of Dublin, Georgia, Leroy (Leslie) Williams, Jeffersonville, Georgia, Ivey (Joan) Smith, Athens, Tennessee, one sister, Sara Brown, Jeffersonville, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Katie Smith; three aunts, Gwen Beard, Dublin, Georgia, Gladys Lindsey, Cincinatti, Ohio, Nellie Mae Jones, Danville, two uncles, Thomas Smith, Dublin, Georgia, and Jessie (Frances) Jones, Buffalo, New York, devoted friends, Delois Tinsley, Annie Mae Burnette, Catherine Steele, Brenda Reynolds, Dorothy Ogburn, Brenda Wiggins, Sara Sadler, Jackie Smith, Tina Taylor, and Leroy Perry. He is also survived by a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family is receiving friends at 871 US Hwy West in Allentown.
