Jerome Pearson
Funeral services for Jerome V. Pearson, M.D., of Dublin, will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014, at 12 PM, at the Saint Paul A.M.E. Church at 308 Rowe Street, Dublin. Reverend Leon Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.
Dr. Pearson, who passed away on December 16, 2014, in Detroit, Michigan, was born on February 20, 1953, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Nathan Ethridge Pearson and the late Dorothy Lampkin Pearson. The family later moved to Tuskegee Institute, Alabama, where Jerome spent his early childhood. In 1957, the family relocated to Dublin, Georgia, where he was educated at Washington Street Elementary School, Susie Dasher Elementary School, and Oconee High School through his junior year. He graduated from Dublin High School in the first class of consolidated schools in Dublin in 1971. He then attended Tuskegee Institute in Alabama where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He returned to Georgia and obtained a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed residency training in Family Medicine at the Floyd County Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. He was a preceptor at the Floyd County Medical Center Family Practice Residency Program for many years. While in Rome, he also provided preceptor training for residents from the Family Practice Residency Program at the Medical College of Georgia. He was a member of the Rockmart First United Methodist Church and a member of the choir. After relocating to Dublin, he renewed his association with the Saint Paul A.M.E. Church where he served on the trustee board. Jerome passed away on December 16, 2014, in Detroit, Michigan.
Survivors include his brother, Nathan E. Pearson, Jr., M.D., of Farmington Hills, Michigan, his aunts, Iona Lampkin Ash of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, Lillian Lampkin Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Hattie F. Lampkin of Tuskegee Institute, Alabama, Dorothy Stuckey Pearson of Dublin, Georgia, Lavesta Pearson Rutland of Atlanta, Georgia, Mamie Pearson Jordan of Kansas City, Missouri, and Joyce Pearson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, an uncle, Alfred O. Pearson, Sr., of Dublin, Georgia, many cousins, other relatives and friends. He also leaves special friends, Randall (Laurene) O’Neal of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Melvin (Wanda) Murphy, M.D., of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Cheryl (Carlton) Pace of Detroit, Michigan.
