Funeral services for Ms. Jeanette Spikes, of Dublin, will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015, at 11 AM, at the Second African Baptist Church, 800 North Decatur Street in Dublin. Reverend Korie Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Ms. Spikes was born on April 16, 1938, to parents, the late Sallie Mae Pearson Jordan and the late Elga Joseph Spikes, and grandmother, the late Obie Lee Brown. Affectionately known as “Beauty”, Ms. Spikes was raised in Dublin, Georgia, where she spent her early years. She graduated from the Oconee High School, and went on to New York City to start her career in healthcare. She retired after 30 years of service as an acute care registered nurse at the Van Etten Hospital in New York where she was known for her expertise and precision in patient care. She then moved back to Dublin and renewed her affiliation with the Second African Baptist Church. After a several years of declining health, she passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015.

Ms. Spikes is survived by her twin sister, Mary Annette “Micky” Spikes of Mount Vernon, New York, a nephew, Gregory Spikes, aunts, Mary Lou Orr of Jacksonville, Florida, and Lillian Spikes Smith of Soperton, Georgia, an uncle, Earl Pearson of Chicago, Illinois, cousins including Myrtice Woodford of Dry Branch, Georgia, Shirley Liggins Hall of Cochran, Georgia, Jasper Liggins of Youngstown, Ohio, Rudolph Liggins of Los Angeles, California, Alfred Pearson and Lula Rozier of Dublin, Georgia, Mamie Pearson Jordan of Kansas City, Missouri, Lavesta Pearson Rutland of Atlanta, Georgia, Angela Martin, MD, of Anniston, Alabama, and other close friends including Genial McGirt, Claretha Pullin, Laverne Jones, Erlene Blash, all of Dublin, Georgia, and Thomas Saxon Southern of New York, New York.
