Funeral services for Reverend Jarrett Paul Salter, Sr., 86, will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 12:00 PM at First African Baptist Church, 405 Telfair Street, Dublin. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Deacon Curtis Pauldo will be deliver the eulogy. Reverend Salter, who passed on August 11, was born February 18, 1926, to the late Lovie and Oscar Salter, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Wade Salter and one brother, Oscar Salter, Jr. Reverend Salter attended high school at Dock Kemp High in Wrightsville and graduated in 1949. He attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta and received his degree in Theology. Reverend Salter begin his service as a pastor in Washington County. He pastored several churches in Dublin including Second African Baptist Church and Zion Baptist Church. He also served as Interim Pastor at First African Baptist Church and as Assistant Pastor at Sandy Ford Baptist Church. He was well known as a businessman in Dublin for over forty years. He served on the Dublin Housing Authority Board. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served in the United States Navy for four years as a ship loader. Reverend Salter is survived by his daughter, Sandra Davis Snelson; his son, Jarrett Paul Salter, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Washington and Marva (Ledell) Kinnebrew He is also survived by eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
