Funeral services for Elder James Watkins, of Dublin, will be held at 2 PM in Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Christ Deliverance Temple Church, 403 East Garner Street in Dublin. Pastor Kenneth Kates will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Elder Watkins, who passed August 2, 2016, was born on June 21, 1928, to Alberta and Henry Watkins. He was born in Dora, Alabama. He was preceded in death by five of the seven siblings; Kathryn Matthews, Lois Phillips, Henrietta Watkins, Mazie Daniels and Willie Watkins, Sr.

In 1950, Elder Watkins met and married the late Margaret Watkins. They had six children: Brenda Watkins, Mimi Watkins, Michael Watkins, Sidney Watkins, Tina Watkins and Rena Watkins. He found the Lord in his early twenties and became an Evangelic Minister of the Gospel. He worked for thirty-plus years for Northern Illinois Gas Company in the mechanics department maintaining the company motor vehicles. He met and married the late Addie B Johnson and retired to Georgia. They were married for more than thirty years. In 2004, he married Janie Watkins and they remained married until his death.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Janie; brother, Andrew Watkins; sister-in-law, Oweena Watkins; six children; Sidney Watkins, Michael Watkins, Brenela Watkins, Mimi Watkins, Rena Watkins, Tina Watkins, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, Andrew Watkins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.

The family will receive friends at 714 Ridgewood Avenue in Dublin.
