James Thomas

Funeral services for Mr. James Thomas, of Dublin, will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 12 PM at the New Canaan Baptist Church, 317 Carolina Street, in Chester. Reverend David Turner will deliver at the eulogy and Reverend Jamie Paulk will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Canaan Church Cemetery.

James Thomas was born on December 9, 1961, as the son of Mrs. Wylene T. Johnson and Reverend Jessie Lee Thomas in Plainfield, Georgia. He was educated in Dodge County. He was a faithful and devoted member of the New Canaan Baptist Church where he served as a deacon of the church, and he loved to sing and worship God. He worked at Evans Cabinet Company, was a dedicated employee of the Dublin City Schools and was a beloved member of the Dudley Funeral Home family.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Thomas, a sister-in-law, Opal Dean McLendon, a brother-in-law, Marshall Brantley, aunts, Rose Lee Little, Annie Bell Williams, Ruby Anderson, Rulene Tukes, and by uncles, Cleveland Turner and Willie Turner. Deacon Thomas passed away on February 8, 2018.

Deacon Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lugene Brantley Thomas, a son, DeAngelo (Jatoza Wells) Wilcher of Dublin, a grandson, Drew Wilcher of Dubln, sisters, Jessie (Joe) Hunlen of Hawkinsville, and Louise Mills of Dublin, sisters-in-law, Janie Robinson of Dublin, Minnie Lee Daniel of Dubin, Louise Ogburn of East Dublin, Rosetta May of Dublin, Lassie Thomas of East Dublin, Belinda (Charles) Robinson of Decatur, brother-in-law, J. B. (Kay) Brantley, Jr., of East Dublin, devoted nephews, Dustin Robinson, George Warnick, and Paul Harvey, Sr., of Dublin, along with a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.

The family will receive friends at the Dudley Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14, 6-7:30 PM.
