Funeral services for Reverend James Frank Sherman, 79, of Macon, Georgia, will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 3 PM at the Williams Chapel Baptist Church, 1142 Georgia Highway 29 S in East Dublin, and on Thursday, February 2, at 11 AM at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 600 Eisenhower Parkway, in Macon. Interment will be in the Middle Georgia Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Macon.

Reverend Sherman was born on June 11, 1937, as the son of the late Emmitt Sherman, Sr., and Marie Sherman. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifetime member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Sherman became the pastor of his first church, Shiloh Baptist Church in Jenkinsburg, Georgia. He also pastored at Greater Union Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia, for 14 years. He is the current pastor of the Williams Chapel Baptist Church and has served in this capacity for the last 22 years. He also served as a member of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia and a member of the the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., for a number of years. Reverend Sherman stepped over into glory on January 26, 2017.

Reverend Sherman’s wonderful memories will be cherished by his loving wife of 57 years, Bertha Sherman, devoted children, James (Sylvia) White of Miami, Florida, Shirley (Gregory) Holmes of Mobile, Alabama, the late Gregory Sherman, and Reverend Michael (Alma) Sherman of Columbus, Georgia; devoted grandchildren, Deric Richardson, William Holmes, Nicole (Daskie) Pettway, Tomekia Sherman, Maria (Christopher) Stephenson, Shannon Finney, Kia Morris, Bobby Grier, Michael Sherman, Jr., Ryan Sherman, Tomara Holmes, Kevin Sherman, Taylor Mitchell, Kevin White, and James White, Jr.; devoted great-grandchildren Chelsea Evans, Meiko Richardson, Desric Goodine, Derius Richardson, Aiden Richardson, Rodricko Calloway Jr., Briana Calloway, Arletta “Red” Samuel, Arlanna “Brown” Stephenson, Justin Morris, Kayden Grier, Auryan Holmes, and Xavion Holmes; devoted sister, Betty Tarver; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, church members, and friends.
