McKinney, James E. 3/21/1930 - 12/2/2015 Muskegon Heights, Michigan James E. McKinney, age 85, a 47 year resident of Muskegon Heights, MI was called to be with the Lord on December 2, 2015. He was born on March 21, 1930 in Buhl, Al., the first child of seven born to Eugene and Annie Dora McKinney. He earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Al. and completed a specialization in Guidance and Counseling from Atlanta University. A veteran of the US Army who served in the Korean War, he enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, traveling (by auto), and teaching Sunday School/ Bible class. He loved his family, friends and church and served monthly at the local men's mission. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobbye S. (Ivery) McKinney, his daughter Deirdre M. Stokes of Battle Creek, MI, his grandson Jonathan D. Stokes of Huntsville, Al., six siblings, an aunt, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. A public viewing and family hour will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 2 to 6 pm at Phillip Chapel A. M.E. Church, 2145 Dyson Street, Muskegon Heights, MI 49444. Funeral services will also be held at Phillip Chapel A. M.E. Church on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 12 o'clock noon. Toombs Funeral Chapel -
