Funeral services for Mr. James Maddox, Jr., "Shorty", 87, of Dublin, Georgia will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1601 South Poplar Springs Church Road in Dublin. Reverend Dr. Willie Edmond will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Maddox was born on November 15, 1930, to the late Locie and James Maddox, Sr., in Dublin. He was a member of the the Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he was a faithful deacon and served until his health declined. Mr. Maddox served in the United States Army from July 1953 until April 1977 with an honorable discharge. He also serve in the United States Army Reserve for many years. He was employed at the Carl Vinson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dublin for more than 20 years. After retirement, he chose to continue his employment with the Laurens County Collection and Recycling Center until his health declined. Mr. Maddox departed his life on November 3, 2018. He was preceded in death by his sister, Locie Andrews, and brothers, J. E. and Rubenstein Maddox.

Mr. Maddox leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely, loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Maggie Maddox, his daughter, Elder Patricia Maddox Reeves of Decatur, his sons, Herbert Maddox and Jerry Maddox of Dublin, and a grandson whom he raised, Timothy (Dana) Maddox of Covington, grandsons, Larry (Carmen) Reevess, Jr., of Rex, Rafael (Stephanie) Reeves, Sr., of McDonough, great-grandchildren, Cameron, JiKaya, Christian, Sanai, Gabrielle, Rafael, Jr., and Jayden, a devoted niece, Janet Sands, of Miami, Florida, and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Dudley Funeral Home on Friday, November 9, 7-8 PM.
