Funeral Services for Mr. James Russell Lord, 71, of Detroit, Michigan, will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 12:30 PM at the C. D. Dudley Memorial Chapel at the Dudley Funeral Home, 617 East Jackson Street, Dublin. Burial will follow in the Whitehead Cemetery, Honeysuckle Road, Dublin.

Mr. Lord, the oldest of nine children, was born in Dublin on July 8, 1944, to the late Russell and Rosa Daniel. He confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Dublin. The family relocated to Detroit, Michigan where, as an adult, he attended East of Eden Spiritual Church.

Mr. Lord retired as a supervisor from the City of Detroit Water Works after 25 years. Retirement is usually a time to relax, however James was not one to sit still. He opened and operated a lawn service up until the time his health began to decline. On September 27, 2015, God called our brother/father/grand-father home to be with Him. Mr. Lord was preceded in death by his parent (aforementioned), his brother, Leslie; and grandson, Te’Ron.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his six children, Tameika (Victor), Sabrina (Ken), Russell (Saran), Shanique (Stephen), Alexis, and Jawin; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; thirteen grandchildren: Heidi, Crystal, Victor, Taqwann, Torian, Victoria, Charkerra, Starkerra, E’Ron, Tamara, Aerrian, Ethan, and Cameron; six great-grandchildren; his siblings: Mary Ransdell, Carolyn Goddard, Dorene Brown, Theodore Daniel, Thelma Daniel, Verna Caldwell and Darlene Rivers – all of Detroit, Michigan; two aunts, Dorothy and Ethel; and, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 1954 Mayberry Road, Rentz, and on Saturday 12-12:30 at the Dudley Funeral Home.
