James Johnson

Funeral services for Mr. James Roosevelt Johnson, Jr., of Dublin, will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 2 PM, in the C. D. Dudley Memorial Chapel at the Dudley Funeral Home. Reverend Linda Gattis will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia.

Mr. James Roosevelt Johnson Jr. was born in Coffee County, Georgia, on April 10, 1955, to the late James Roosevelt Johnson, Sr., and Bessie Mae Jones Scrutchins . He was educated at Mary Hayes and Broxton High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and he served for several years. Later in life he worked with Hall's Tree Service and he helped many people with odd jobs. Mr. Johnson will be remembered for his friendly personality. His friends gave him the nickname, "Big Hand", for the love he had for people. He departed his life on June 8, 2019.


Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Betty Johnson, and by his grandparents. He leaves behind a devoted and caring sister, Ms. Berdine Johnson, a brother, Mr. Barry Johnson of Dublin , nieces, Rhonda S. Johnson of Dublin, Shawandra Driskell of Macon, nephews, Alonzo (Crystal) Johnson of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Barry Bell of Dublin, Derek (Stephanie) Johnson, and Dexter Johnson of Dublin, two loving aunts Mrs. Margie McCollough, Juanita Clements of Broxton, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great- great nephews, family, and friends.

The family will be receiving friends at 800 Village Circle in Dublin.
