James Brown

Homegoing services for Mr. James Alvin Brown, of Dublin, will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 2 PM at the First African Baptist Church, 405 Telfair Street, Dublin. Reverend Cecil Moore, Jr. will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born on August 10, 1956, to the late Emanuel and Brownie Brown. He was raised in Wrightsville, Georgia, where he joined the Saint Galilee Baptist Church at an early age. He was a 1974 graduate of the Johnson County High School. He then served in the United States Army, and later served in the United States Army Reserves. He ended his military duty in 1991 following a tour in Operation Desert Storm. He started his civilian life in the construction industry, where he worked for many years until his retirement in March 2019. Mr. Brown was a dedicated and hard working man who truly loved his family and friends. He entered into eternal rest on June 21, 2019. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy Brown, a son Rico Brown, and brothers-in-law, Joe Brown, Sr., and James Lowther.

Mr. Brown leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved children, Erica N. Brown, Michael (Adrena) Brown, and LaRodney Guyton, his precious grandchildren, Jaden M. Mitchell, Asia N. Wadley, and Mirah S. Howard, devoted niece and great niece, Kela and Amya Edwards, a special goddaughter, Aaliyah Jordan, two caring brothers, Cumming (Beverly) Brown, and Anthony Brown, four loving sisters, Eloise (Steve) Hightower, Patricia Brown, Agnes (Joseph) Thompson, Lena Ruth Lowther, two sisters-in-law, Vivian (Benny) Abrian, and Cheryl Edwards, a brother-in-law, Cuba Lee (Gwen) Edwards, Jr., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
