And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." ****** James William Anderson, Sr. 89 James William Anderson, Sr. (affectionately known to friends as Jim) was born in Birmingham, AL on September 21, 1923. When he was five years old his father moved his family to Laurel, MS where James grew to be a man. He attended Gardiner High School in Laurel and was the Captain of the Track Team. Many of his records remained unchallenged for years and the last record was broken in 1968. James joined the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Pacific theater during WWII; specifically Guam, Guadalcanal and Okinawa. James was always very proud of his country. In 1949, James graduated from the University of Alabama with a double major in Geology and Physics. Although his degree was in the sciences, he had a great love of poetry and classical literature and shared this love with his family. At the start of the Korean War, the United States Marine Corps offered James a commission that he declined because he had met Flora Walley who was to become the love of his life. James and Flora Walley were married at Kingston Assembly of God in Laurel, MS on April 15, 1951. The newlyweds began a life long adventure traveling the world and sharing it with their family. In 1969, James began work at Mobil Oil Corporation and moved his family to Irving, TX where the Anderson family made their home until 2009 when they moved to Magnolia, TX to be near their grandchildren. James was loved, respected and admired by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Flora, his son, James William Anderson, Jr., his daughter Susan Flora and her husband, Raymond E. Kelly, and his son Perry Newman Anderson and his wife, Julie and their three children, Timothy James Anderson, Nathan Scott Anderson and Elizabeth Claire Anderson. James is now reunited in Heaven with his Lord and Savior and many loved ones, including his parents, his sisters, Helen Loree, Lillian Jeanette and Mary Elizabeth and his brother, Buford Henry Anderson. James' brother in law, Rev. E. R. Schulz, who was married to his beloved sister Helen until her death, and who was also James' brother in his heart, was among those with whom he was reiunited. The viewing was held at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia, TX on March 7, 2013. The United States Marine Corps Honor Guard burial ceremony was held at the Houston National Cemetery on Friday, March 8, 2013.
