Irma Culleton (Anderer)

Irma Culleton (nee: Hamilton) passed away peacefully on July 26, 2011 at the age of 93. Irma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose charm, unflagging cheerfulness and passion for life brightened the lives of all who knew her. Irma was married to George J. Anderer for twenty-six years until his death in 1971. She had three sons, Paul, Thomas and Mark Anderer, and two daughters-in-law, Mia and Jayne. Irma married William F. Culleton Sr. in 1983 and became stepmother to his three sons, William Jr., Robert and Terence. She was grandmother to fourteen grandchildren, Erich, Nicholas, Peter, Kyle, Jordan, Matthew (deceased), Stephen, Elizabeth, Kenneth, Jeremy, Sean, Ravi, Malcolm,, Ian and one great-grandson, Matthew. Irma grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School where she met several lifelong friends. With George Anderer, a Philadelphia police detective, she resided in West Oak Lane and later in Northeast Philadelphia and lovingly raised her three sons. A widow, she would remarry a fellow parishioner at St. Jerome’s, William Culleton, CPA. She was a skilled and devoted homemaker, served as an officer of the St. Joseph’s Prep Mother’s Club and at different times in her life worked as an executive secretary and a dental assistant. In her later years she joined the St. Jerome Church Choir. Relatives and friends of Irma and her family are invited to attend her viewing and Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 1, 2011 at St. Jerome Church located at 8100 Colfax Street, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:45 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W. Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19150. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Hero Scholarship Fund, 1617 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
