Irma Brayley
Irma Julene Brayley was born on January 3, 1939 in Christchurch, New Zealand to Jean Olive (Bidmead) and Charles Frederick Schowe. She passed away surrounded by her family on June 1, 2013 in Yucaipa, California.
Irma received her teaching certificate from Avondale College in 1958 and went on to complete her Bachelors in Elementary Education in 1980. She taught elementary school for 48 years, 21 of those years were spent teaching second grade at Loma Linda Academy. Her passion was education – a love she continued to pursue even into retirement.
Irma enjoyed knitting, collecting recipes and reconnecting with old friends. She considered her greatest achievement raising two children, and she truly treasured time spent with her 4 grandchildren.
Irma will be forever missed by her husband of 45 years, Kerry Braley; her children: Kate Condon and Jason Brayley; her grandchildren: Alex, Maddie, Jackson and Jason. She is also survived by her siblings: Carolyn Flint, Jenny Schowe, Marg House and Ann Roberts.
A graveside service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands on Monday, June 10th at 1:30 PM. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to Loma Linda Elementary, attn Ismael, to enhance the second grade experience, which was her joy.
