Funeral Services for Mr. Hugo Charles, Jr., of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at 2 PM at the First African Baptist Church, 405 Telfair Street in Dublin. Reverend James W. Scott, Jr., pastor of Dominion Ministries, will deliver the eulogy, and Bishop Henry Channel, III, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Hugo Charles was born on October 7, 1950, to the late Hugo Charles, Sr., and Essie Bell Chatman Charles Howard. He attended Oconee High School. At an early age Hugo joined the Jackson Chapel CME Church and he later joined the Driskell Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mr. Charles lived several years in Huntington, New York. He worked various construction jobs until he was hired on at Berkel and Company Contractors as a pump operator on April 23, 2005. He was a dedicated employee until his health failed in 2016. He departed this life on Monday, November 26, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Essie Bell Chatman Charles Howard, by his father, Hugo (Vera) Charles, Sr., by his sisters, Eddie Jean Charles King, Belinda Howard Waters, Bobbie Jean Charles Melton, Dorothy Jean Charles, Teresa Charles Freeman, and by his brothers Otha Charles and Quincy Charles.

Hugo leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted friend Lynette Walker of 15 ½ years, two daughters Tamela (Walter) White, Dublin, Renee Charles, South Carolina, five sons Winston O’Neal, Dublin, Eric Charles, Savannah, Thaedeaus Moorman, Warner Robins, Jeremiah Charles, Dublin and Javoris Antonio Peacock, Miami, Florida, two sisters, JoAnn McBride, and Faye McBride of Dublin, three brothers, Hubert (Patricia) Charles, Mervin Charles, of Dublin, and Morris Charles, San Antonio, Texas, a devoted aunt, Carolyn Charles Brown, Dublin, one uncle, Earnest Charles, Dublin, one sister-in-law, Kery Charles, Dublin, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren. He was a father figure to John Woodbury, IV, LaKisha (George) Greene, Titus (Kutona) Woodbury, Yamashika Woodbury, Jimmy E. Cordy, Jr., Quinton Gibson, Shamekia Gabble, Sierra Wright, and he also leaves one god-daughter Aaliyah Melton and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family is receiving friends at 515 Dixie Street, and at the home of his daughter Tamela (Walter) White, 511 B South Church Street, both in Dublin.
