Hugh Donald Love YORK – Don Love, 81, died Saturday morning at the Wayne Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church officiated by The Revs. Neill McKay, Thomas McPhail, and William Heustess. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Don was born in York, on July 28, 1931, the son of William Otis and Emily Mozelle Love. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 until 1953. A lifelong resident of York, he was a cattle farmer and worked at Ferguson – Youngblood Hardware store in downtown York for 40 years. During this time he presided over the daily gatherings of “the Regulars” and word quickly spread among the local children that he would dole out free penny candy upon request. Upon his retirement, the City of York appointed him Honorary Mayor for the day. He was a member of the Young Farmers Association and served on the Fishing Creek Watershed Board. He was an active member of Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church where he served as treasurer of the Men’s Sunday School Class and the Men of the Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Lena Love Heustess, and brother Dr. James Monroe Love. He is survived by a sister Emily Love Sutherland of Rock Hill and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 1184 N. Shiloh Road, York, SC 29745.
