Herschel Knight

Funeral services for Mr. Herschel Lee Knight, Sr., of Montrose, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 2 PM at the Christian Hope Baptist Church, 1792 Georgia Hwy 26 in Cochran, Georgia. Reverend Robert Haywood, Sr., will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Knight was born January 29, 1949, in Laurens County to the late James Thomas Edmond and the late Rosa Mae Wright. He was a man of many talents. He enjoyed hunting and watching cowboys in his spare time. Mr. Knight was married to Ruby Jean Thomas Knight for 51 years, and to this union, four children were born. Mr. Knight transitioned on Sunday, October 01, 2017.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosetta Knight, mother, Rosa Mae Wright, father, James Thomas (J. T.) Edmond, and sister, Sandra Williams.time.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving wife, Ruby J. Knight of Montrose, a son, Herschel L. Knight, Jr., of Greenville, North Carolina; two daughters, La Sonya (Robert) Haywood of Dublin, Sabrina (Antoine) Smith of Richmond Hill, five sisters, Barbara Edmond of Detroit, Michigan, Essie Wright, Winnie Darrisaw, and Ada Wright, all of Dublin, Sandra (Gerald) Vaughn, of Atlanta, one brother, Ossie Wright, of Douglasville, an aunt, Earnestine Horne of Macon, an uncle, Willie (Tanicka) Coneway, Dudley, eight grandchildren, Johnathan Knight, Justin Knight, Kailah Knight, Daquan Knight, Avion Smith, A’Ishah Smith, Megan Haywood, Robert Haywood Jr., ten sisters-in-law and ten brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, 6-7 PM, at the Dudley Funeral Home, and at 1504 Watkins-Hall Road in Montrose.
