Memorial services for Mr. Henry Lee Leggett, 71, of Dublin, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Powerhouse of Faith Church, 1608 Louisiana Avenue in Waycross, Georgia.

Mr. Henry Lee Leggett was born on August 22, 1948, in Manor, Georgia, to John Henry Leggett and Orah Lee Moore Leggett. He was raised in Waycross, Georgia, was a 1968 graduate of Center High School, attended Albany State College, and was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He moved to Dublin, Georgia, in 1971 and started working at Engelhard Corporation in McIntyre. He continued living in Dublin raising his children and loving his wife, Zora Wells Leggett, until she passed away.

Mr. Leggett was a drummer, a keyboardist and a vocalist lead who was associated with the Velvetones whose members went on to become the SOS Band, SmokeStack with Early Clover, the South Bay Project, Umoja with 2nd 2 None plus many others. He performed in many places including on Princess Cruise Lines. Henry Lee Leggett departed this life in Dublin on Sunday, February 2, 2020, surrounded by the love of his children. We will remember his funny stories, his witty sayings and how he would joke and play with the children. Henry Leggett made everyone feel special. Most of all, we will miss his handsome smile and cool laughter.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Leggett, his mother, Orah Lee Moody, his brother, Thenopolis "T. C." James, his granddaughter, Olivia Briana Parker, and by his loving wife, Zora Leggett.

Mr. Leggett is survived by his sister, Veronica (Curtis) Reed, his brother, Alphonzo (Vanessa) James, sons, Travis (Avery) Rock and Terrance Leggett, 21 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who will truly miss him. Henry and Zora Leggett were foster parents of Nathan Lowe, Ashley Lowe, Jalisa Lowe and Devin Wilbur.
