Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Wright Surry, 87, of Dublin, will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 12:00 PM at the Mount Cilla Springs Baptist Church, Turkey Creek Road, Danville. Reverend Burnest Glover will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mount Cilla Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Danville.

Mrs. Hattie Wright Surry was called to rest on Wednesday, August 7, 2013. She was born to the late Luticia Wright and Hardy Thomas and was raised by her grandparents, the late Georgia Washington Wright and Andrew Wright.

She attended public schools in Twiggs County, and at an early age she joined Mount Olive Baptist Church also in Twiggs County. After wedding her husband, the late Robert "Bob" Surry, Sr., she joined Mount Cilla Springs Baptist Church in Danville, Georgia.

The Surrys parented six children: the late Eugene L. (Mildred) Wright , Leon (Martha) Surry, Gloria J. Surry, Robert J. (Cheryl) Surry, Everette L. Surry, and Steven A. Surry. She enjoyed being a homemaker making many of her family's favorite dishes. They included brunswick stew, flat cornbread, collard greens and a variety of desserts which included her famous pumpkin pie. She was also known for sporting her collections of hats when running errands.

Those left to remember her life are fourteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Timothy "Tim" (Sally Ann) Surry of St. Petersburg, Florida, and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 721 Pinedale Circle, Dublin. Mrs. Surry will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
