Funeral services for Mr. Grover Cleveland “Champ” Davis, 64, of Jacksonville, Florida, will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 1 PM at the Sandy Ford Baptist Church, 2614 US Highway 80 West in Dublin. Pastor Anthony Webster will officiate. Interment will follow in the Moore Station Cemetery.

Mr. Davis was born on May 4, 1953, in Laurens County, Georgia. He lived in Dublin for the majority of his life where he previously worked at Garrett Construction and Jack’s Meat Market. He moved to Jacksonville the later part of his life where he spent the remainder of his time landscaping yards. Mr. Davis was an affectionate, tenderhearted family man, who loved to fish, garden, take care of others and make people laugh. He gained his heavenly wings on Friday, July 28, 2017.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Jones, his father, James Davis, his son, Richard Tyrone Davis, his three brothers, Lester Davis, Richard Davis, and Marshall Davis, his two sisters, Arvada Dorothy Tucker and Bonnie Edwards, his three nephews, Daniel “Gypsy” Davis, Claudius “Donald” Edwards, and Jackie Tucker, and his two nieces, Bridgett Davis and Courtney Davis.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Debra Davis of Jacksonville, Florida; his seven children, Audrey (Antonio) Mason of Savannah, Quita (Leroy) Jones of Ray City, Napoleon (Jeannie) Davis of Atlanta, Shondra (Moncello) Stewart of Savannah, LaKeisha (Eric) Washington of Dublin, Sonya Johnson (Jay) of Texas, Chris Johnson (Felicia) of Jacksonville, Florida; twenty-eight grandchildren, Jasmine, Jeffrey, Evian “CeCe”, and V’Najae, Shykemmia, and Eboni of Savannah, Noah and Nicolas of Ray City, Anthony, Justin, Johnathan, Nicholas, Tarsche’, A’Quila, Trenity and Zy’Quavius of Marietta, Erin and Azzur of Savannah, Tatiyana “CeCe”, Jaiden, and Keigan of Dublin; Kendrick, Kendajah, Kennyah, and Kayleb of Texas; Chedrick, Christian, and Aiden of Jacksonville, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jordan, and Jaelynn of Savannah; three brothers, Henry (Claudia) Davis, Emanuel Jones, and Benjamin (Eva Florence) Davis, all of Dublin; three sisters, Joyce Davis of Dublin, Dollie (Robert) Jefferson of South Bay, Florida, Mary Davis of Port Richey, Florida; a mother-in-law, Delphine Williams, a sister-in-law, Janie Davis and a brother-in-law, Leon Davis, an uncle, Gunner “Roc” Kilpatrick of Jacksonville, Florida, and an aunt, Gwen Kilpatrick of Jacksonville, Florida, a long-time brother, and friend, Roosevelt Rozier of Dublin, many special nieces and nephews that loved him dearly and whom he loved in return, and significant long-time friends, Luretta Davis and Burnell Washington.
