Grady Harper YORK Grady Edward Harper, 76, of York passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at his home in York. The funeral will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Philadelphia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Trey Doyle officiating. Burial will be at Philadelphia UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Bratton Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM. A native of York, Grady was a son of the late Willis Thomas Harper and Adell Garrison Harper. He was the widower of Kathy Lambert Harper and was a member of Philadelphia UMC. Grady spent 45 years in law enforcement, retiring from the York City Police Department and later working as a bailiff with the York County Sheriff's Office. He was also a member of the SC National Guard, the York Rescue Squad, York Fire Department, and helped coach little league baseball. He is survived by son Sammy Harper (Emily) of York, SC, daughters, Terry Hardin (Terry) of York, SC, Stacie Greene (Scott) of York, SC, former wife and companion Mary Ann Harper Sweatt of York, SC, sisters, Lou Ann Griffin of Bessemer City, NC, and Mary Faye Galyan of York, SC, and six grandchildren, Leigh Ann Hardin, Whitney Hardin (Matt), Sam Harper (Mary Beth), Kent Harper, Matthew Greene, and Luc Greene, one step son and three step grand children. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Harper and Lewis Harper and sister, Kathleen Garvin. Memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice, 125 S.
