Funeral services for Ms. Gloria Jean Tharpe, of Dublin, will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017, at 3 PM at Saint Peter’s Baptist Church, 912 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Dublin. Reverend Gregory Holt be officiating. Interment will follow in the Thankful Baptist Church Cemetery in Cochran.

Ms. Gloria Jean Tharpe passed on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born on September 4, 1948, to the late Rosa Lee Tinsley and the late James Harvard. She was reared in Chester but spent the majority of her adult life in Miami, Florida where she worked for the Miami Jewish Health Systems until her retirement. She was preceded in death by both parents, a brother Jacob; two sisters, Patricia Tinsley and Felecia Allen,and her husband, Vincent Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her only son, Shawn (Jackie) Curtis, a granddaughter, Tinsley Olivia Curtis, four brothers: Jerry, R.L., Oscar Tinsley and Daniel Harvard; and six sisters: Carrie Peacock, Julia Tinsley, Barbara Tinsley, Betty Ann Tinsley, Regina Harvard and Bernadette Harvard and a host of other beloved relatives.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 28, 2017, 6-7 p.m. at the Dudley Funeral Home.
