Geneva Simmons

Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Redd Simmons, of Danville, will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 1 PM at the Danville Baptist Church in Danville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Randy Paschal will officiate.

Mrs. Simmons who passed on June 22, 2014, was born July 22, 1933, to the late Anthony Redd and Mattie Carswell. She was raised by John and Alberta Hicks. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Pauline Wingate, Claudia M. Dawson, Willie P. Fowler and Willis Hughes.

She was a member of the Danville First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a 1950 graduate of Jeffersonville High School. She married Primus Simmons, Sr, on February 3, 1951.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by a devoted husband, Primus Simmons, Sr.; one daughter, Mattie C. Simmons; four sons, Primus (Nomia) Simmons, Jr., of Warner Robins, Leroy (Patricia) Simmons of Jeffersonville, James A. Simmons, Van Simmons of Danville; one sister, Callie Williams of Danville; three sisters-in-law, Lorene Hart of Danville, Cleo Bell, Laura Rozier both of Miami, Florida; one brother-in-law, James Simmons of West Palm Beach, Florida; two devoted friends, Virginia Wilson and Christine Jones Slappy of Jeffersonville; four godsons, four god daughters, nine grandchildren, one devoted granddaughter, Wanda Carter, fifteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 310 First Street in Danville.
