Gail Wood

After a long and blessed life, Gail Wood was ready to leave this world. His prayers were answered July 9, 2013. Graveside service is 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Eden Cemetery.

Gail was born January 17, 1932 to Jess and Lucille Wood. He married Maudell Surber July 11, 1951. She preceded him in death April 24, 1993. He married Mae Jacoby Hoelscher June 10, 1999. She also preceded him in death March 30, 2006. Gail and Maudell had three children, Teresa, Richie and Shannon. Leaving a huge void in our hearts, Richie died in 2001. Gail enjoyed his years with Mae and her children. He loved his extended family.

Gail worked hard all his life. After serving three years in the Coast Guard, he and Maudell returned to Eden to raise their family. He worked 35 years at a local feed store while he farmed and ranched. He ranched up until his death. He hunted and collected arrowheads most of his life. Gail enjoyed horse racing whether it was live or on TV. He often wondered how many miles he had driven in his lifetime of trucking and vacationing over the country.

Gail leaves behind family and friends who love him deeply. Teresa married Fred Escue and Shannon married Ray Busby. His daughter-in-law Nita remains a close part of the family. Gail has seven grandchildren, Teri Jo Wilder and husband, Tracy; Matt Escue; BJ Brewer and wife, Candice; Josh Escue and wife, Michelle; Justin Wood and wife, Melissa; Michael Wood and wife, Amy; and Amber Busby.
He found great joy in his 10 great grandchildren Tesa Wilder, Dean Brewer, Trenton Wilder, Mason Wood, Austin Wood, Lauren Wood, Abby Brewer, Maddie Busby, Kylie Wood, and Lexie Wood.

Those waiting for him were his parents, wife Maudell, wife Mae, brother Curtis, son Richie, his brothers-in-law JC and Max Surber, and some very dear friends.

We will miss his wit and love but know he is at peace where he wants to be. Memorials to Daddy can be made to the Eden Public Library or Eden Volunteer Fire Department.
