The Funeral Rule
A funeral can be one of the most expensive and difficult purchases one may ever have to make. Having little to no knowledge of the industry, coupled with the added time pressure and emotional duress a person could easily be fooled and taken advantage of.
Bailey Funeral Home is required to comply with the "Funeral Rule", or face the possibility of federal trade commission complaints being filed.
The FTC "Funeral Rule" was enacted in 1984 and is designed to ensure that all funeral homes including Bailey Funeral Home provides consumers adequate information with regards to the products and services they are charged for including obtaining price information on the telephone.
As part of the "Funeral Rule", Bailey Funeral Home will provide anyone who asks with a General Price List (GPL) that includes but not limited to, the expenses of funeral service items such as transportation to the cemetery near or around Columbia county, and viewing or visitation services.
A general price list is available free of charge to any person who inquires in person at Bailey Funeral Home 100 Highway 79 (at Greene Street) Magnolia, Arkansas about funeral arrangements, regardless of their intent to purchase funeral services or not.
Included in the free General Price List made available to you by Bailey Funeral Home are casket prices. You are welcome to view a written casket price list before you see the actual caskets.

Bailey Funeral Home cannot refuse to handle a casket or urn you bought online, at a local casket store, or somewhere else — or charge you a fee to do it. Bailey Funeral Home cannot require you to be there when the casket or urn is delivered to them.
The "Funeral Rule" is straight forward,"You have the right to buy separate goods (such as caskets) and services (such as embalming or a memorial service). You do not have to accept any package that is offered from Bailey Funeral Home that may include items you do not want."
The loss of a loved one is a difficult thing. Funeral home directors at Bailey Funeral Home understand that this is a trying time for you, the family, and friends of the recently deceased. They attempt to make the grieving process a little easier by providing funeral planning and other services.
Funeral directors will be available at any time a death occurs to transport the deceased to the funeral home from the place of death. They will then perform services regarding the care of the individual as requested by the family. This will often include embalming, washing, dressing, and cosmetology.
Soon after the death, the Bailey Funeral Home will arrange a meeting with the family to discuss the necessary paperwork and arrange for funeral services. Bailey Funeral Home will take care of all filing of death certificates, authorizations, and permits. In addition, all other arrangements regarding the cemetery, insurance claims, veteran’s benefits, and similar inquiries will be handled by the funeral director.
Composing an obituary may be a difficult process for the family of the recently deceased. The funeral director endeavors to make this process a little easier by gathering the necessary information and preparing the obituary. The director at Bailey Funeral Home will then see to posting the obituary on WhoPassedOn, newspapers, and publications requested by the family.
In addition to these basic preparation and planning services, the Bailey Funeral Home will contact any officiates, clergy members, or other individuals and groups the family requests to participate in the services. They will also provide the necessary or requested memorial items, such as acknowledgment cards, guest book, memorial tributes, or prayer cards. The primary goal of the funeral director at Bailey Funeral Home is to take as much burden as possible off of the family so that they may appropriately grieve the loss of their loved one.
