F. Dean Boettcher, 88, passed away March 18, 2016.

Dean was born December 2, 1927, to John Lewis & Sadie Estelle (Nutter) Boettcher, in McPherson, KS.

Dean retired from Santa Fe Railroad in 1987 after 44 years of service. He married Ann (Rowan) Shaffer on September 23, 1967, in Kansas City, KS. Ann preceded him in death on May 9, 2014.

Dean is survived by his children: Dennis Boettcher of Tonganoxie, KS, Larry Shaffer & wife Carol of Smithville, MO, and Judy Shaffer Wormsley of Excelsior Springs, MO; grandchildren: Larry Boettcher of Brookfield, MO, Terry Boettcher & wife Gina of Owensville, MO, Leanne Jones & husband Dean of Orrick, MO, Jennifer Browne & husband Howard of Kansas City, MO, Darren Shaffer & wife Peggy of Smithville, MO, Stephanie Shaffer of Smithville, MO, and Gina Oliver Hubbard & husband Pete of Ft. Lauderdale, FL (a granddaughter they raised); great-grandchildren: Thomas Boettcher, Emily Newell & husband Darren of London, England, Clayton Jones of Kansas City, MO, Julianna, Alexandra, Sofia Santos, Jake and Cole Shaffer, all of Smithville, MO, and Hudson and Quincy Browne, of Kansas City, MO; great-great-grandson: Callan Newell of London, England. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 5 sisters, 1 son, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 1 son-in-law.

Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 pm, Friday, March 25, 2016, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, Kearney, MO. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial at Kingston Cemetery.
