FORREST WATTS
Forrest Watts passed away on March 20, 2013. He was born in Los Angeles on October 12, 1947 and resided his entire life in California. He was the youngest of four children, Ann, David, Debi and Forrest, born to Sylvia and Delbert Watts. He is survived by his wife Joyce and by sisters Ann Udell of Shady Cove, Oregon and Debi Linker of Rogue River, Oregon. Other surviving family members include cousins Dennis and Michael Braff, Neil Zukerman and Cynthia Moores and their children; nieces and nephews Steven Udell, Cynthia Scheer, Erik and Jason Linker, Michelle Holder and Robert Watts; great nephews and nieces Chane and Cole Linker, Garrett and Isabelle Holder, Lindsey and Noah Linker, Adam and Aaron Scheer, Allison Diaz and Jordan Udell and their children.
Forrest attended Pasadena High School in California, graduating in 1966. He attended Pasadena City College graduating in 1968 with an AA degree in Restaurant Management, then two years at Cal State Los Angeles with a Business Administration Major.
He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War from September 1969 aboard the USS Long Beach CGN9, and was stationed at El Toro Marine Corp Air Station during his last year in 1972.
His professional career in Restaurant Management began with Norms Restaurants of Los Angeles in 1972 as a General Manager. In 1979 he moved to San Luis Obispo to become the owner/operator of the Chocolate Soup Restaurant. After closing the restaurant in 1995, he moved to Lake Tahoe to manage two restaurants for Harrah’s for a year, before moving to San Jose. For the next 10 years, he managed several restaurants in the Bay Area. First was Boudin Sourdough Bakery Cafes, then Stack’s Restaurant, Faz Restaurants, and last Stoddard’s Brewhouse & Eatery.
In 1998 he married Joyce Barnes, daughter of Betty Templeton and Harvey Brown. They moved to Beaumont, California in 2005.
In retirement, Forrest was an investment manager and a volunteer counselor to small businesses through the SBA SCORE organization. He also served on various committees associated with the Solera HOA. He loved to travel, garden, bicycle and cook.
