Funeral services for Mother Elder Fossie Mae Odum, of Dublin, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2017, the Everlasting Gospel Non-denominational Church at 1300 South Jefferson Street in Dublin. Overseer Betty Jean Powell will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.
Flossie Mae Odum was born on September 27, 1936, in Cadwell, Georgia, to the late Lille Mae Stephens and the late Roy Lee Burch. She was adopted by the late Rufus and Nellie Mae Sutton. She attended Midway Elementary in Laurens County. She dedicated her life to serving others. She attended Fort Lauderdale Vocational Nursing School from which she obtained her nursing certification. Afterwards, she worked over 40 years as a nurse’s aide and private companion in Florida and Georgia during which she touched so many lives. For over 54 years, she devoted her life to Christ. She attended Saint Tilla Holiness Church in Chauncey, Georgia. She later relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she had the task of finding a building for Saint John Holiness Church. Under the leadership of the late Bishop C. Brown and Overseer Betty Jean Brown, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was ordained as Elder Mother Odum. She attended True Faith Original under Bishop David Powell and Overseer Betty Jean Powell. On December 21, 2017, the Lord called her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harper Love Stephens, one daughter, Nellie Jewel Odum, two grandsons, Aaron Brown and Anthony Brown, and by her mother-in-law, Catherine Odum.
She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her stepbrother, Jimmy Stephens of Florida, daughters, Sandra Hughes, Bernice Odum (Dib Dimiaty), Angela Odum,, and Flossie Caroline Odum ( granddaughter), two sons, Rufus Sutton and Mack (Nicole) Odum, all of Dublin, Catherine Clark of McRae, Patricia (Tyrone) Jones of East Dublin, four sisters-in- law, Betty Powell of Dublin, Lillian Stansberry of Hawkinsville, Gloria Clark of Chauncey, and Joanne Odum of Sylvania, three brothers-in-law, David Powell of Dublin, Apostle Joseph Clark and Woodrow Powell , both of Chauncey, 25 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family is receiving friends at 307 North Church, Apt A, in Dublin.
