About

Five continuous generations of Sellers have been in the funeral caregiving profession. The first generation was Daniel Sellers who operated a combination furniture and undertaking business in Saint Thomas beginning in 1850. The second generation was made up of his two sons, J. Allen and S. Frisbie, who bought a funeral business from George Denton located at 129 S. Main Street in Chambersburg. This was in 1895 at which time the business was known as J.A.Sellers & Bro. After the death of S. Frisbie in 1923, J. Allen recruited the help of his two sons, Daniel K. and Robert A., introducing the third generation of Sellers to the funeral business at which time they renamed it J.A. Sellers & Sons. In 1936, the funeral home was moved to the old Colhoun-Chambers mansion on Philadelphia Avenue. Soon after that, Robert G. who was the son of Robert A. started working in the family business marking generation four. When William F. Sellers, son of Robert G. Sellers, joined the firm in 1977, he became the fifth generation caregiver in the Sellers family lineage. The funeral home now carries his name.

Understanding Funeral Prices at William F. Sellers Funeral Home
Your Consumer Rights and Available Information

Arranging a funeral can be both emotionally challenging and financially burdensome. Many people have little knowledge about the funeral industry, and in such difficult times, they may be vulnerable to being deceived or taken advantage of.

To protect consumers, William F. Sellers Funeral Home is obligated to follow the guidelines outlined in the "Funeral Rule". Failure to comply with this rule could result in complaints being filed against the funeral home by the Federal Trade Commission.

The "Funeral Rule" was established in 1984 to ensure that all funeral homes, including William F. Sellers Funeral Home, provide customers with clear and accurate information about the products and services they offer. This includes providing price details over the phone upon request.

As part of the "Funeral Rule," William F. Sellers Funeral Home is required to offer a General Price List (GPL) to anyone who asks for it. This list includes various expenses related to funeral services, such as transportation to the cemetery in or around Franklin County, as well as costs for viewing or visitation services.
