Robert P. Mulcahy was a World War II veteran who served more than three years as a laboratory technician stationed at a hospital in the Horn of Africa. He later worked at the Dimond Funeral Home in Windber until he and his wife purchased the L. Fern and Mayme Wagner home at 305 Central Avenue in Central City and converted it into a funeral home. They both stayed active in the operations of the business until theirs deaths but ownership of the funeral home changed in 1983 when their son Robert F. Mulcahy purchased it from them. Robert F. Mulcahy now runs the funeral home and is also a Deputy Coroner for Somerset County.
