Pellerin Funeral Home was founded in 1921 by Harris J. Pellerin, Sr. At the time, the funeral home business was quite different from what we know today. There were actually no “funeral homes” – Pellerin would travel to the residence of the deceased person to deliver the casket and perform the embalming. In those days, the caskets were built in his father’s furniture store in Breaux Bridge, which is now Café des Amis. The wake was also held at the home. In 1953, the company founder became seriously ill with Parkinson’s Disease and was unable to continue active involvement in the company. In 1962 his oldest son Ray stepped in to keep the family business in operation. The Pellerin Family operates funeral homes in Arnaudville, Breaux Bridge, Cecilia, Henderson, New Iberia and St. Martinville. Today the Pellerin tradition continues under the direction of brothers, Gene and Frank Pellerin, third generation funeral directors, along with a highly trained professional staff.

Arranging a funeral can be both emotionally challenging and financially burdensome. Many people have little knowledge about the funeral industry, and in such difficult times, they may be vulnerable to being deceived or taken advantage of.
To protect consumers, Pellerin Funeral Home is obligated to follow the guidelines outlined in the "Funeral Rule". Failure to comply with this rule could result in complaints being filed against the funeral home by the Federal Trade Commission.
The "Funeral Rule" was established in 1984 to ensure that all funeral homes, including Pellerin Funeral Home, provide customers with clear and accurate information about the products and services they offer. This includes providing price details over the phone upon request.
As part of the "Funeral Rule," Pellerin Funeral Home is required to offer a General Price List (GPL) to anyone who asks for it. This list includes various expenses related to funeral services, such as transportation to the cemetery in or around Saint Martin County, as well as costs for viewing or visitation services.
Anyone who visits Pellerin Funeral Home at 112 North New Market Street in Saint Martinville, LA and asks about funeral arrangements is entitled to receive a free copy of the general price list. This applies to all individuals, regardless of whether they intend to purchase funeral services or not.
