Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Rose Cooper Pittman, of Dublin, will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 1 PM at the Mount Tilla Baptist Church, 2424 US Highway 441 South in Irwinton. Reverend Harold Banks will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Pittman was born on October 16, 1935, to Herman and Mary B. Cooper in Laurens County. She remained in Laurens County until she married Gus Warren Pittman, Jr., and they moved to New Jersey. While there, she earned her Masters in Education and her PhD at William Paterson College in Haldon, New Jersey. She regularly attended and participated in Union Baptist Church in Passaic, New Jersey. While in New Jersey, she a became a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated, a part of Lambda Kappa Mu Society and the Finest Social Club and she was very active in community events. 

In 2000, she retired from the Paterson School System and moved back to Dublin. Shas been active at the Mount Tilla Baptist Church, was the 2012 Senior Citizen of the year, founded the Family Literacy Center, was VP of the Board of Millville High Alumni, and is also on the Board of Directors with Eve's Daughters and Ambassador with Oconee Electric EMC Board. She also worked with the Weber Creek Food Program and fed thirty-six families every two weeks. She passed away on March 1, 2017. She was a woman of incredible impact and she will be greatly missed. 

Mrs. Pittman is survived by her husband, Gus Pittman, her daughter, Sharon Pittman and by her brother, Roger Cooper. 

The family is receiving friends on  Sunday, March 5, 2017, 7-9 PM at the family residence, 642 Evergreen Road, Dublin.
