Evelyn McCormick

Evelyn McCormick passed away on May 1st, 2013 at her home in Pasadena, California at the age of 87.
She was born July 22, 1925 in Hancock Twp. Plymouth, Iowa to Lawrence Loraditch and Mary Rollins. Evelyn married Clem McCormick and become stepmother to his three children. Eventually they added to this family, increasing the number to thirteen children.
The family relocated to California in the 50's, settling down in Silverlake, where they lived for many years. Although times might of been tough, Evelyn was strong because providing for her family and making them feel loved was her mission in life. Evelyn did this not only for her own children, but also for countless others that she became a mother/grandmother figure to. With hard work and tenacity, Evelyn nurtured a large family.
Over the years Evelyn endured the loss of her parents, two brothers, two sisters, her husband, as well as seven children. She is survived by two sisters Fanny McMillian and Lillian Flohr, six children, Pauline Miller, Shirley Slechta, Cecilia LeRoi, Richard McCormick, Julie Thompson, and Angela Fennessy, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. This loving woman truly defined the importance of family and strength. Evelyn will be greatly missed by the small country that is her family.
