The homegoing celebration for Mrs. Evelyn Lewis Martin, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at 2 PM at the Holly Spring Baptist Church, 2345 Buckeye Road, East Dublin, where the Reverend Anthony King is pastor. Reverend Shawn Curtis will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Martin was born on March 22, 1934, to the late John Wesley and Bessie Wright Lewis in East Dublin, Georgia. She married the love of her life, Mr. Matthew Martin, Sr., on October 2 ,1954. She was employed by the Super Duper Restaurant, the Dublin City Schools, and the Dublinair Nursing and Rehab Center, until her health began to fail. She was also a homemaker. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Matthew Martin, Sr., five brothers, Mr. Robert Jack Lewis, Mr. Willie Lewis, Mr. Charlie Lewis, Mr. Johnnie Lewis, and Mr. Frankie Lewis, four sisters, Mrs. Mattie Chambers,, Mrs. Estella Chambers, Mrs. Aretha Harvery, and Miss Bessie Lewis, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Warnell Hicks Martin, a granddaughter, Mrs. Suprena McCall, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Dessie Lewis, and a brother-in-law, Mr. Willie Chambers. Mrs Martin passed away on April 9, 2019.

Her memories will be cherished by her children, Dorothy Lewis, Patricia (James) Smith of Detroit, Michigan, Matthew Martin, Jr., Theodore Martin, Barbara (Blanton) White, Jr., Stella (Toscanell) Smith, Evelyn J. Martin, Robert Martin, Andrew Martin, all of Dublin, and Mac Arthur (Merita) Evans of East Dublin, a very special and devoted friend of the family, and the best caregiver you could ask for, Miss Sandra Terry, who she considered as one of her daughters (We love you Miss Sandra Terry!), thirty-three grandchildren, seventy-nine great-grandchildren, and nineteen great great-grandchildren. One of her favorite statements was, "I have a lot of grandchildren as you can see".
