Funeral services for Mr. Emery Carter Thomas II, of Dublin, will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 828 Scotland Road, Dublin. Reverend Dr. Frederick C. Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas was born on November 22, 1941, in Dublin to the union of the late Emery and Malvolya Thomas. At an early age, Mr. Thomas was affiliated with Second African Baptist Church. He was a member of the class of 1959 at the Oconee High School. He later obtained a barber’s license in Miami, Florida. Mr. Thomas embraced his entrepreneurial spirit by returning to Dublin and opening a barber shop, and one of Dublin’s hottest night spots of the era. His employment history also includes Trailways Transit and Edenfield’s. Mr. Thomas was the first employee at Flexsteel, where he remained until his health began to fail. He took flight to his heavenly home on June 18, 2016. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Thomas, and his daughter, Robin Thomas Ellington.

He leaves loving and cherished memories to his beloved daughters, Tonya (Raymond) Thomas Berry, Valdosta; Malva (Dru) Watson, Rentz; brother, Julian E. Thomas, Tuskegee, Alabama; sister, Mary Ellen Register, Dublin; grandchildren, Pennie Stanley, Columbia, South Carolina; Elliott Gaillard, Valdosta; Joey Stanley, Warner Robins; Volya (Johnny) Stone, Okinawa, Japan; Drake Hicks, Columbia, South Carolina; and Devona and Thomas Watson, Rentz; niece and nephews, Robina Jenkins, Julian Thomas, Jeffery (Carla) Thomas, Joel Thomas, Emery Thomas, Maceo Register, and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of Dru and Malva Watson, 2064 Julianne Drive in Rentz and at the Dudley Funeral Home on Wednesday, 6-7 PM.
