Eleanor Ruth (nee Quesnel) Keefe, an Ojai, California born, Alaska adventuress, educator, licensed Morse code ham radio operator, sled dog musher, salmon netter, goose-pluckin’, Beretta totin’, substitute nurse, author (Where the Sun Keeps Watch at Night), administrator, sailor, animal lover, gardener, landscaper, prolific clay sculptress/potter, horsewoman, classy dresser, wife, and mother of two, took her energy and left this earth Jan. 20, 2013. To all of her Alaskan friends in Mountain Village, Soldotna, Naknek, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and her California friends in Ojai, Santa Cruz, Goleta, Alpine, and Redlands, she bids a fond adieu. Eleanor is survived by her sister, Regina Hudson of Pittsburgh, a daughter, Gail Perszyk of Redlands, her son, Tim O’Keefe of Reno, her grandchildren: Heather Breyer, Brennan & Liam O’Keefe, and great grandchildren Tara, & Bradley. Eleanor has lent her physical self to a short stint for science, after which time she will be interred in the Riverside National Cemetery with her spouse and sparring partner, George. Eleanor was eighty-nine.
