Edward Cordy
Funeral services for Mr. Edward “Ed” Cordy, 67, of Wrightsville, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 2 PM in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery on East Mary Street in Dublin. Reverend Jimmy Cordy, Sr., will deliver the eulogy. Dr. Hayward Cordy will preside. Interment will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
Mr. Cordy was born on May 28, 1952. After graduation from Johnson County High School in 1970, he enlisted in the United States Marines and served faithfully and received an honorable discharge. Mr. Cordy was an avid cook and had a passionate heart and helped those that he could. He was a member of the Thompson Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Donovan, Georgia, where his younger brother, Reverend Dr. Hayward Cordy, is pastor.
Mr. Cordy passed away on May 20, 2020, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. He will be missed immensely by his many family members and by his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ellis (Carrie Lee) Cordy, Sr., and Eulene Minor Thomas, grandparents, Roebuck Cordy and Ada Cordy, Elmo Minor, Sr., Eunice (Bostic) Minor, Pearl Sams and Floyd Jackson, James Thomas and Julia Kate Thomas, four brothers, Jerrod Thomas, 1SG (retired) Gerald L. Thomas, William (Little Bit) White, and Jerry White, a niece, Anita Kwan Taylor, nephews, Octavious Tyshawn (Natalie) Linder, and Jamal (Faith) Cordy, and by one precious great-niece, Baby Bella Ann Linder.
Mr. Cordy is survived by his beloved wife of thirty years, Mary Guyton Cordy, two stepsons, Roy (Alecia) Guyton, and Craig Guyton, all of Dublin, four step-grandchildren, Craigdriquez Guyton, Craigriquez Guyton, Lauren Guyton, Londyn Guyton of Dublin, siblings, Willie E. (Jacqueline) Davis of Dublin, James Lee Hunter, Sr., of Wrightsville, Reverend Jimmy Ellis (Pastor Elizabeth) Cordy, Sr., of East Dublin, Bobbie Lee (Leslie) Thomas, Jr., of Columbia, South Carolina, Reverend Kenneth (Yvette) Cordy of Augusta, Reverend Dr. Hayward Cordy of Wrightsville, Marie Cordy (Pastor Benny, Sr.) Brantley of East Dublin, Judy Ann (Antonio) Graddy of Wrightsville, Sandra Faye (late Joel) Merrell of Wrightsville, Mary Lois White, Elder Jasper (Vickie) White, Jr., Henry (Pam) White, Sr., all of Plant City, Florida, Annie Kate Knighten of Belton, Texas, Charlie Mae Price of Augusta, Georgia, Pearl (Leon) Gaskin of Davie, Florida, James (Liz) White of Lakeland, Florida, two aunts, Doris Minor of Fairburn, Georgia, and Lois Brown of Brooklyn, New York, one uncle, Herman Minor of Brooklyn, New York, and a special nephew, Jimmy “JJ” Cordy, four sisters-in-law, Joyce Harden, Dorothy Watts, Virginia Taylor, all of Dublin, and Linda Guyton of Wrightsville, Georgia, five brothers-in-law, Joseph Monroe, Jack Guyton, Kenneth Watts, Roger Terrance Guyton, all of Dublin, and Steve Guyton of Riverhead, New York, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
